ROCKY MOUNTAIN ELK FOUNDATION

DAKOTA PLAINS CHAPTER

JOIN US ON MARCH 8TH AT RAMKOTA FOR 2008 BANQUET

Each year North America losses thousands of acres of wildlife habitat--habitat that is essential to the future of wild, free ranging elk.  The mission of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation is to ensure the future of elk, other wildlife and their habitat.  The Foundation relies on Chapters throughout North America, including the Dakota Plains Chapter located in Aberdeen, South Dakota, to raise funds through their Big Game Banquets and other events to help protect and preserve these wild places.

The Black Hills Conservation Initiative has targeted several areas in South Dakota region that may fall to development.  Through this initiative, the Elk Foundation is building a cooperative effort to protect the best of what's left in the Black Hills through acquisitions, conservation easements, habitat enhancements and cooperative management plans.  Volunteers and staff are working with partners to raise more funds, educate the public and gather more cooperators in this historic effort to protect the wildlife and scenic values of the Black Hills.
